romantic piano: Arnan wiesel

Arnan Wiesel plays major Romantic era virtuosic masterpieces by Liszt and Schumann.

The program includes Carnaval op. 9, Robert Schumann's virtuosic and expressive series of character pieces, complemented by his charming and innocent Scenes from Childhood Op. 15.

The Sonata in b minor is one of Franz Liszt's masterpieces, using visionary ideas in form and harmony. It is possibly an autobiographical account of the composer's life and uses the full expressive and virtuosic range of the piano.

Arnan Wiesel : A finalist in the Sydney Piano Competition, his career as solo and chamber musician has taken him to Australia, USA, Europe, Asia and New Zealand. Since taking up residence in Australia, he has performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australia Ensemble, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, the Adelaide Festival, in numerous ABC Live concerts, the Hunter and Huntington Festivals, Tyalgum Festival and in the Canberra Chamber Music Festival. He appeared in the NZ Piano Festival in Wellington.

Arnan is a former head of the ANU School of Music Keyboard area and was the Founding Artistic Director of the Australian International Chopin Piano Competition held in 2011. He was the inaugural President of the ACT Keyboard Association. Arnan currently has a teaching studio in Canberra.
